An innovative approach to education and economic development will be the focus of Lee’s Summit’s Fifth Annual Education Summit that will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, Jan. 28, 2015 in the MCC-Longview Education Center, 500 SW Longview Road, Lee’s Summit, MO.
“Business and community leaders, educators from all segments, parents and students will convene at the Education Summit to discuss the education ecosystem and continue the tremendous work started with the citizen-led strategic plan Lee’s Summit 360°: Charting Tomorrow,” said Mike Allen, chairman of the Education Key Performance Area of Lee’s Summit 360.
The Education Summit, which began in 2010, is a forum to update stakeholders on the progress of the community’s educational system while providing an opportunity to brainstorm ideas to continue growth in this vital area.
“This year our work will focus on the important connection between a robust educational system, the generation of economic development activity, and a strong economy,” said Allen.

An inniative of the Quality of Life KPA is community branding. Earlier this week, the new LStourism.com launched. This website now matches the community brand and goes perfectly with all the partner sites including cityofLS.net, LSchamber.com, downtownLS.org and leessummit.org. Welcome to the branding family LStourism.com!
Another year is coming to a close and it’s time to look ahead to what’s to come. The beginning of a new year always comes with a sense of new energy and excitement (at least for me). So why not make 2014 the year you get involved with your community?
LS360 is always ready to welcome new volunteers and their talents… that’s what makes our group so great!
So take a few minutes to explore the different KPAs, and discover which one(s) you’d like to lend your time and talents to. Once you’ve done that, click the “Volunteer” button and let us know!
2013 has been a great year for Lee’s Summit and LS360, and we are looking forward to an even better 2014!
Thanks to everyone that presented and attended the City Council meeting last night! It is so energizing to hear updates from the KPAs and the great things that are being accomplished.
If you were unable to attend, I would recommend watching the presentation here.
Again, thanks to all the citizens that volunteer so much of their time for the betterment of our City!
Don’t forget that tonight at 5:30 p.m. the Implementation Committee is providing an update to City Council. Come join us and show your support in the Council Chambers (220 SE Green Street).
Can’t make it? You can tune into LSTV or watch the presentation live on your computer.
Wish us luck!
